These two individuals are very different from each other, the common thread being the need for transportation and the wish for positive development in their community. Black Label is known for living a lifestyle centered on building bikes together, riding together, eating together, and sometimes living together. Black Label is more than just a bike club or a lifestyle - it is life. This is a rare look at a way of life that may challenge your own. Producer Fredric King of Fountainhead Films presents B.I.K.E. as the first of a series of intimate portraits of New York City´s subcultures past and present.

In August of 2002, over 800 bicycle riders descended upon New York City in the form of 89 gangs. Their goal: to live out the epic gang warfare movie known as THE WARRIORS. During the all night race from the Bronx to Coney Island, riders got lost, blood was shed, police outwitted, and countless brain cells destroyed. Most of what took place that night was thankfully never to be discussed again until... WARRIORS: THE BIKE RACE.

Erik van Empel takes us to the annals of the Tour De France: the yellowed magazines, scratched glass plates and damaged film footage that capture the history of the world´s most beautiful race. Featuring legendary cyclists Gino Bartali, Louison Bobet and Jean Robic- the fate of a whole nation was at stake during their heroic 1948 struggle. The few riders of that era who are still alive today describe the unforgiving circumstances in which the battle was decided. The old archival material, the fabulous anecdotes lead to a visually spectacular film that expresses the mythic character of bicycle racing. The film ends where it started: with the modern Tour de France. Is there any heroism left in today's media circus?

Putting snowmobiles and 4x4's to shame, the crew traveled across the great Northwest in a bikecar: a four-person, pedal-powered vehicle that was the vessel of the adventure - part bike, part car. Pulling a trailer with snowboards and gear, the crew pedaled in search of snow for one month. "Bikecar" is a one-of-a-kind documentary that brings a new perspective to travel, adventure and snowboarding.

Acclaimed NYC filmmaker and photographer, Sutherland is known for his work as Director of Photography on the skateboarding film "Stoked: The Rise and Fall of Gator" which played to audiences nationwide, as well as the photography book AUTOGRAF. Pedal is a fast-paced documentary film about surviving in the streets of New York City as a bicycle messenger. It features messengers from all walks of life as they battle traffic in a race to make their next delivery on time. It premiered in 2001 at the South by Southwest film festival and in New York at the Bicycle Film Festival, and later was acquired by the Sundance channel, where it aired until 2004.The Bicycle Film Festival re-screens Pedal in 2006 to celebrate the Powerhouse Books release of Sutherland´s new photo book, also titled "Pedal." The book features photos of messengers from around the world who went to New York in 2005 for the Messenger World Championships.
